For the first time, the state government has brought the technological intervention in order to curtail illegal mining. The state government is also working on a plan to bring an area of two lakh square kilometers under the cover of Trinetra Drone Surveillance System.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that newly launched Surveillance System will address the issues associated with illegal sand mining. He announced that a well-equipped central command and control room would be arranged to link up other departments like Water Resources and Road and Building. According to state officials, initially, river-beds of Sabarmati, Orsang, Tapi, Bhadar and other sensitive regions will be covered through Trinetra Drone Surveillance System.
