Bridge in Varanasi Collapses: Takes 18 lives and 25 injured

Varanasi, May 16: In Varanasi on Tuesday, a part of the bridge constructed under the Canton station fell. Many vehicles came in its grip. In the accident, the NDRF team confirmed 18 deaths and said that 25 people were injured in the accident. CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered for all possible assistance and help for the injured and affected due to the incident.

According to the information, 50 people are likely to be buried in the accident. There has been a stir in the area due to the collapse of the bridge. On the spot, the team of top officials and NDRF has reached. The area has been surrounded by local police in terms of security. Relief rescue work has begun. People on the spot are also handing over relief work. The death toll may increase as some injured are still critical.

According to the information, the flyovers are present in the Canton area, which was being constructed from the earliest. On Tuesday evening suddenly a part of it fell. In this, many cars on the spot were pressed. At the same time many people were pressed. The matter is of the wave of the seagara station area.

According to the information, this bridge is being built from time to time. Recently, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya had visited here and ordered to complete the construction of this bridge. People said that most of the bridge has been completed; the last thing was going on. Suddenly a part of today came down.

President Ram Nath Kovind said on the incident, “Shocked to learn about the tragedy at flyover construction site in Varanasi. Condolences to the bereaved families. The administration is making all efforts to rescue and help those affected.”

 

PM Narendra Modi twitted expressing his condolence, “Extremely saddened by the loss of lives due to the collapse of an under-construction flyover in Varanasi. I pray that the injured recover soon. Spoke to officials and asked them to ensure all possible support to those affected.”

 

“I spoke to UP CM Yogi Adityanath Ji regarding the situation due to the collapse of an under-construction flyover in Varanasi. The UP Government is monitoring the situation very closely and is working on the ground to assist the affected” PM Modi added.

 

CM Yogi Adityanath also said via Twitter, “A portion of the bridge under construction in front of cant station fell in Varanasi; deeply grieved over the death of people in the accident. I pray to strengthen the peace and condolences for the departed soul.”
