Mumbai, March 29: The controversy over Goa government charging outstation patients, especially from Maharashtra, for using public health facilities in the state, has been resolved.

Health Minister of Goa, Vishwajit Rane met CM of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis on Sindhudurg district health scheme issue on Wednesday. He said, “Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has agreed on empaneling the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, and the North Goa District Hospital under neighboring state’s flagship health insurance scheme.”

Maharashtra government has decided to take onboard Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital as part of the hospitals empanelled under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Aarogya Yojna (MJPJAY), the Goa health minister said. The CEO of MJPJAY has been asked by the Maharashtra government to set up up a facilitation desk from the designated TPA (third party administrator) for Sindhudurg district at GMC to cater to patients from Maharashtra.

He said that separate counters will be set up at the GMC and the North Goa District Hospital for the patients availing the MJPJAY scheme.

Rane said that over the next seven days all formalities will be completed by both the governments.

Following the agitation in Sindhudurg district, the Maharashtra government had written to Rane urging him to provide free medical services to the people from Sindhudurg district visiting the GMC, offering to bear the medical costs.
