Nagpur, Oct 13: Famous Nobel award winner and global champion of child rights Kailash Satyarthi will be the chief guest for this year's annual Vijayadashmi program of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Satryarthi will be the second such important personality to share the stage with RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohanrao Bhagwat after former President Pranab Mukherjee in the same year.
Mukherjee was invited by RSS to grace the valedictory function of its annual Third Year training camp in June this year. His accepting the invitation and actually sharing the stage with RSS chief and speaking in the more or less similar language has caused a great deal of churning in the social, political and media circles in the country.
And now, the RSS invited Nobel Laurette Kailash Satyarthi and he too has accepted the invitation to be the chief guest on the foundation day celebration of RSS.
This year's Vijayadashami function will be more important as it succedded Sarsnghchalak Dr Mohanrao Bhagwat's three-day lecture-cum-Q & A session held in the national capital exactly a month ago.
Bhagwat had addressed the gathering of invited guests from various walks of social life during those three days in September and answered their questions to their satisfaction. Hence, observers are interested in what more he would say on this important event.
Nagpur Mahanagar Sanghchalak Rajesh Loya and Sah Sanghchalak Shridhar Gadge have appealed to all to attend this function.
Besides the Nobel Prize, Kailash Satyarthi has received the Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) Defender of Democracy Award; the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Award (USA); the Medal of the Italian Senate; and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Human Rights Award (Germany), among many other accolades. These awards have been conferred on Satyarthi for his immense contribution in advancing human rights. His work and life have been extensively featured in national and international media.
In 2014, Kailash Satyarthi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize jointly with Malala Yousafzai for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education. Kailash has dedicated the entire prize sum to the advancement of the rights of children. On January 7, 2015, he handed over his Nobel medal to the President of India, dedicating it to his motherland and its great people. The medal is now permanently displayed at the President’s House Museum in New Delhi.
