Dehradun, January 25: Under the UDAN Scheme – second phase, 73 unserved and underserved airports and heilpads will be connected. This will lead better connectivity among the small regions. In this scheme maximum airports which are going to be served are from the state of Uttarakhand. Total 15 airports are going to be the part of UDAN scheme phase two.
This phase two of the scheme will not only welcome the plane services but helicopter services too.
The UDAN scheme offers 50 per cent subsidy to airlines on these routes, route monopoly for three years and a host of other concessions at landing airports. It expects the airlines to cap fares at Rs 2,500 a seat an hour on regional flights. The government imposes a levy of Rs 5,000 per flight on key metro routes, which translates into around Rs 50 per passenger.
The benefit of this scheme is that it will add 29 lakh more seats which will transform aviation ecosystem and also it becomes a service common man.
On this scheme minister for aviation Ashok Gajapathi Raju said “UDAN 2 - connecting 73 new airports and helipads, adding 29 lakh seats annually. Under PM Narendra Modi’s guidance, this government is transforming the aviation ecosystem, making it affordable and accessible to the common man.”
