Nagpur, Sept 30: Sounding a warning bell on the issue giving shelter to Rohingya Muslims in India, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat said that the illegal migrants from Myanmar will definitely be a threat to national security.

Addressing the annual Vijayadashami function at Reshimbag grounds here on the 93rd foundation day of the world’s largest Hindu organization he said, “Any decision regarding the Rohingya Muslims should be taken by keeping in mind that they will definitely be a threat to national security and integrity”.

Endorsing the Central Government line on this vexed issue, the RSS Chief said that the government seems to be thinking “on the same line”. He however underlined that in such complex situation, success was not possible without cooperation of the entire society.

Illegal migration in to Indian Territory is not a new phenomenon. It has been in vogue since pre-independence days and usually associated with smuggling of cows and has been a matter of concern. The country is already overburdened with the pre3sence of lakhs of illegal migrants from across the Bangladesh border with no immediate solution in sight as yet. And now this new influx of the Rohingya Muslims has complicated the situation further.

Dr Bhagwat said that the Rohingya Muslims are being driven out of Myanmar mainly due to “their continuous violent and criminal separatist activities and linkages with the terrorist groups”. Hence, he warned that any decision regarding them should be taken without endangering our national interests.

The RSS Chief also referred to the more ‘dangerous game’ being played by the ‘anti-national forces’ by stimulating unrest, separatism, violence, enmity or hatred amongst group or local identities on the basis of language, region, sects, religion etc. Especially, in the Border States, attempts of creating an atmosphere for distressing the Constitutional provisions on these lines are going on, he said.

Pointing to violent situation in the Trinmool Congress – ruled West Bengal and the Left Front ruled Kerala, the Sarsanghchalak said that the governments of these states and their systematically politicized administrative systems “are not only apathetic to this serious national crisis but are also lending a helping hand to the antinational forces for petty political interests”.

He hoped that the Union Government was contemplating suitable action on the basis of information reaching to them to foil these nefarious designs. However, he said that the government alone cannot resolve such complex problems. For this purpose, all the ‘sajjan shakti’ i.e. the good meaning people, of these states should come forward fearlessly. They will have to be organized, vocal and active and also make the society fearless, alert and enlightened, the RSS Sarsanghchalak stressed.

On the issue of border and internal security Bhagwat patted the security forces for doing their duty with full vigor, commitment and sacrifice. He however advised the government to expedite the process of equipping them with adequate resources, improving their internal communication and coordination with the intelligence agencies for better and efficient results.

Taking care of the security personnel and their families, ensuring national self-reliance in military hardware and providing enough manpower and training to these forces would also enhance their efficacy and effectiveness, he added.

Stressing the need for improvement in direct interaction between government and security forces the RSS Sarsanghchalak also expected the society to show more affinity and respect towards our soldiers and their families.

Besides right policies, in tune with national interest and ethos and in the direction of fulfilling the expectations and requirements, the need for organized and virtuous society with clear understanding of our national pride is also seen in every walk of life, Bhagwat said adding that the administration should also internalize the core of those policies and have the necessary mentality for effective implementation.

Dr Bhagwat appreciated the security forces for their determination in dealing with the terrorists and firing from across the border. Noting that all security forces have been given the freedom to perform their respective duties, he said that the provocative actions and propaganda of the separatists was effectively controlled by curbing their illegal financial sources and exposing their links with anti-national terrorist forces. The positive effects of this strategy are visible on the ground, he added.
