CM Yogi warns against illegal mining, asks for e-tendering to bring transparency

Lucknow, December 5: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to act on e-tendering based on the mining policy and added that the state government's priority was to provide minerals and mining products to the people of the state, readily and in a cost-effective manner.

In this, he said, stringent action will be initiated if there is any delay, carelessness or corruption in providing minerals or mining products. Decision of the National Green Tribiunal's principle bench, the Chief Minister pointed out, was a big time achievement for the state government.

Providing this information, additional Chief Secretary (Mining) RP Singh informed that the principle bench of the NGT, has passed orders on December 4, 2017 with regards to mining in the river bed of Saharanpur.

Hearing the petitions, the NGT has allowed the permission of mining by UP government this year, leaving regions marked by a high-powered committee for environmental damage.

NGT also expressed its displeasure at the behaviour of crusher owner and issued a bailable warrant against his name for a bail bond of Rs 50,000 and directed the concerned SHO to present before it crusher owner by Tuesday.

In pursuance of the orders of the NGT, the District Magistrate of Saharanpur will act as per the new mining policy of the state.
