Mumbai, December 26: After Reliance JIO and Airtel now another telecom company Vodafone is planning to introduce 4G voLTE from January next year. Vodafone confirmed the roll-out of its VoLTE services beginning January 2018 and adds that it will be available across India, starting with Mumbai, Gujarat, Delhi, Karnataka, and Kolkata.

Vodafone says its new service will enable HD quality voice calls along with faster call set up time. The operator also announced that Vodafone SuperNet 4G customers will experience VoLTE (Voice over LTE) services for free. “All they need is a handset supporting Vodafone VoLTE and a 4G SIM,” said the operator.

“Vodafone is getting future ready with the advent of newer technologies and digital services. The introduction of VoLTE will enhance customer experience with HD quality calling and offer our customers newer possibilities. Vodafone VoLTE is an important step towards introducing futuristic technology enhancing our data strong network,” said Sunil Sood, CEO Vodafone.

4G VoLTE uses the 800 MHz, 1,800 MHz and 2,300 MHz bands of spectrum. But unlike voice networks, which have to block off one band to make a call go through and channel data across another band, VoLTE can send both voice and data over the same band simultaneously.

This allows for quicker call connectivity. Also, these bands can reach further than traditional voice networks, hence better coverage. They can also be paired with WiFi networks easily.
