Popular for his perfect craftsmanship and devotion to Indian culture, Indian fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee made history at the Met Gala 2024. The designer himself made his debut on the iconic red carpet. To note, Sabyasachi Mukherjee became the first Indian fashion designer to appear on Met Gala.
For the occasion, Sabyasachi opted to wear an embroidered cotton duster coat from his prestigious Sabyasachi Resort 2024 collection pairing it with a crisp white shirt and tailored beige pants. He accessorised it with a stunning selection of tourmaline, pearls, emeralds and diamonds from the Sabyasachi High Jewellery line. He completed his look with a matching belt, stylish sunglasses and sleek brown loafers.
Alia Bhatt X Sabyasachi
Apart from walking at the Met Gala, Sabyasachi's floral saree, which Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt wore has become the talk of the whole world.
For ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’, she was styled by well-known stylist, Anaita Shroff Adajania. Sharing dreamy photos of her, Alia in the caption of her Instagram post wrote that it took "a total of 1965-man hours" to create her saree.
"We embraced a delicate nostalgia for hair and makeup - an elevated coiffure embellished with intricately woven braids and soft freckles - a homage to time's gentle caress. Creating this has been quite an experience... fun and stressful in equal parts. It has taken a collective effort of 163 dedicated individuals, including master craftspeople, embroiderers, artists, and dyers, investing a total of 1965-man hours to create this ethereal saree. As I wear this outfit, I feel incredibly grateful to embody this exquisite creation, a testament to boundless love and painstaking effort," read an excerpt from Alia Bhatt's post.
