Difference between Democrat & Dictator! PM Modi "enjoys" his viral animated video, while Mamata's police take action for same video

New Delhi, May 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted to a spoof animated video of him dancing, saying that he “enjoyed” seeing himself dance. He appreciated the “poll humour” amid the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. This came after hours after the Kolkata Police took action against an X user who had posted a similar meme of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

What happened?

On the social media giant X, a post featuring an animated portrayal of PM Modi dancing to an upbeat song garnered his admiration on Monday. The video was shared by X user named animated with the caption saying, "Posting this video cuz I know that 'THE DICTATOR' is not going to get me arrested for this."

PM also retweeted the video appreciating the creativity and saying, "Like all of you, I also enjoyed seeing myself dance. Such creativity in peak poll season is truly a delight."

Kolkata Police take action against X user for similar meme of Mamata Banerjee

Notably, the same spoof video, depicting West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee dancing, went viral on social media shared by an X user. However, Kolkata Police demanded a social media user to disclose their identity after the Trinamool Congress chief’s spoof video went viral. The state police said failure to comply could result in legal action under section 42 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

"You are directed to immediately disclose your identity including name and residence. If the information sought is not revealed you shall be liable for legal action u/s 42 CrPC."

The BJP’s Bengal unit, meanwhile, took a jibe at Mamata Banerjee and compared the two leaders’ way of tackling the situation.


“Two sides of the coin: PM finds joy in the video, while Mamata’s police resort to threats and deletion over a similar tweet,” the Bengal BJP posted on X, asking Kolkata Police to “grow up!”.
