IPL 2024 playoffs: In a significant development, the group stages of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 have officially ended after a washout between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday.
KKR has topped the table with a remarkable tally of 20 points despite being involved in two washouts over the last week. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won against RR and secured a second-place finish despite both teams finishing with 17 points on net run rate (NRR). Royal Challengers Bengaluru took the fourth spot with 14 points.
The result means that KKR and SRH will have two chances of making the playoffs as they go head-to-head in the first qualifier on Tuesday (May 21) at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. RR will take on RCB at the same venue on Wednesday (May 22) in the eliminator.
The winner of the KKR-SRH clash will advance to the final set, which will take place at the MA Chidamabram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (May 26). The loser of the clash will face the winner of the RR-RCB game at Chepauk on Friday (May 24) in the second qualifier. The winners of both qualifiers will face each other in the summit clash.

The 2024 IPL has no common team from the four that qualified in 2023, with it being the first instance in IPL history of a complete different set of four teams qualifying in consecutive years.
Among the qualified teams, KKR is looking to win the title for the third time, while SRH and RR are looking to lift the trophy for the second time. RCB is aiming to win an elusive first title.
