Ahmedabad, Apr 4: Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), India’s leading renewable energy firm and a global player in the sector, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 10,000 megawatts (MW) in its operational portfolio. This achievement underscores AGEL's commitment to delivering reliable, affordable, and clean power to the national grid, as highlighted in a statement released by the company on Wednesday.
With a remarkable operational portfolio of 10,934 MW, AGEL's renewable energy projects will cater to the energy needs of more than 5.8 million homes while averting approximately 21 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. The company's statement emphasized that AGEL is setting a new standard for the clean energy transition by leveraging innovative technology, robust execution capabilities, digitization, a strong supply chain network, and sustainable practices.
Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, expressed pride in AGEL's achievement, stating, "We are proud to be India’s first 'das hazari' in the renewables space." He underscored the company's rapid growth, transforming from an idea to explore clean energy to achieving a remarkable 10,000 MW in installed capacity in less than a decade.
Furthermore, Adani outlined AGEL's ambitious plans, aiming for a capacity of 45,000 MW by 2030, including the development of the world's largest renewable energy project in Khavda, Gujarat. This unprecedented 30,000 MW project reflects AGEL's commitment to lead India's transition to clean, reliable, and affordable energy while redefining global benchmarks in renewable energy development.
Aligned with its commitment to sustainability, AGEL is dedicated to enhancing natural and social capital, focusing on achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The company's operating portfolio is certified 'single-use plastic free,' 'zero waste-to-landfill,' and 'water positive for plants with more than 200 MW capacity.'
AGEL's flagship project in Khavda, Gujarat, symbolizes its commitment to renewable energy development. Spanning 538 sq km, equivalent to five times the size of Paris or nearly the size of Mumbai city, the project aims to harness the vast potential of barren land for renewable energy generation. Leveraging the synergies within the Adani Group, AGEL is rapidly advancing the project, utilizing the project execution capabilities of Adani Infra, the manufacturing expertise of Adani New Industries Limited, and the operational excellence of Adani Infrastructure Management Services Ltd., along with the robust supply chain of strategic partners.
