"Outsiders will not be accepted": Congress workers protest in Delhi against LS candidates Kanhaiya Kumar and Udit Raj

New Delhi, April 22: Congress workers are protesting against its own Lok Sabha candidates. This came after Congress workers staged protests outside the party's Delhi office on Monday raising slogans of "Bahari ummeedwar nahin chalega (outsider candidate will not be accepted)".
The protests took place against two Lok Sabha Congress candidates in Delhi, Udit Raj who is fielded from North West Delhi and the other is Kanhaiya Kumar who is contesting from North East Delhi.

This comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the royal family of Congress that lives in Delhi will not vote for Congress and pointed out that the Congress is not even contesting elections in the places where the members of this royal family live.
It is pertinent to mention that though Udit Raj has been an MP of North West Delhi, he is being called an outsider by Congress workers because he won the 2014 elections as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate.
Kanhaiya Kumar had joined Congress by switching from another party and does not even hail from the constituency from where he has been fielded. Kumar contested the 2019 elections on the Communist Party of India (CPI) symbol from Bihar's Begusarai and lost by a margin of over 4 lakh votes to BJP's Giriraj Singh.
Congress is contesting only on three of Delhi's seven Lok Sabha seats, while four have been given to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) under the INDI Alliance.
Similar protests against Congress' Chandigarh candidate Manish Tewari were seen where over 50 leaders had resigned and the party's Chandigarh president Harmohinder Singh Lucky is having a hard time convincing local workers.
