New Delhi, Apr 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India's transformation across various sectors such as infrastructure, UPI, women empowerment, and sustainable growth in an interview with the US-based magazine Newsweek. He emphasized India's democracy as intrinsic, stating that it is in the "genes of every Indian." Modi also discussed his legacy, revealing his motivation to make an impact on the lives of every Indian.

With the Lok Sabha elections approaching, Modi noted that while most governments lose support by the end of a second term, his BJP government is seeing an increase in its support base due to its excellent record of fulfilling promises. India's rapid economic trajectory and growing diplomatic, scientific, and military strength make it an emerging global superpower, according to Newsweek. Modi emphasized that India's development in infrastructure has accelerated significantly in the last decade, with the National Highways network increasing by 60% and the number of airports doubling.
 
The Prime Minister highlighted the government's focus on environmental conservation, citing initiatives such as solar-powered pumps for farmers, rooftop solar programs, and energy-efficient lighting. Modi reaffirmed India's commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement, aiming to fulfill its energy commitments by 2030.
 
 
 
 
 
Modi also stressed the importance of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) as a prime example of Indian innovation, emphasizing the need for technology to be open, interoperable, scalable, and secure. He highlighted UPI's role in breaking financial and geographical barriers, enabling digital transactions for people across India.
 
Discussing the role of women in India's growth, Modi said his government shifted from "women's development" to "women-led development." He pointed to the Women Reservation Bill, which provides 33% reservation for women in Parliament and State legislatures. Regarding the Pran Pratishtha of Ayodhya Ram Mandir, Modi called it a "historic moment" for national unity, marking the culmination of centuries of perseverance and sacrifice. He emphasized the importance of Shri Ram in the nation's consciousness and the sacredness of the occasion.
 
Looking ahead to his potential third term, Modi expressed that he is not focused on how he will be remembered. Instead, his motivation comes from making an impact on the lives of all Indians.
