New Delhi, Mar 12: As the government notified the crucial Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 on Monday evening, there were several leftist-propagandists international media which attempted to peddle false narratives over the Act. These media organisations are famously known for spreading anti-India narratives and making the Muslim community the victims of the CAA.
However, the government-owned Press Information Bureau fact-checked Al Jazeera for its “misleading” report on CAA and stated on X, “Misinformation is being spread by @AJEnglish regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act, calling the act ‘anti-Muslim’. The claim is misleading. CAA will not take away the citizenship of any Indian citizen irrespective of religion. It’s not against any single religion/ community. It’s an enabling law only to provide citizenship to persecuted minorities from neighbouring countries – Afghanistan, Pakistan & Bangladesh,” PIB stated.
Similarly, there were several misleading headlines over the CAA to provoke Indian Muslims and send false information globally.
5. Pakistan also joined in this narrative saying that "India to implement Citizenship Amendment Act that excludes Muslims".
