Lucknow, Feb 8: While drawing an analogy with the epic Mahabharata, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has batted for shrines in Varanasi and Mathura where the disputed Gyanvapi and Shahi Idgah mosque are located. "Shri Krishna had asked for only five villages, but Hindu society asked for only three centres of Sanatan civilization - Ayodhya, Kashi and Mathura". He also criticized previous governments for endorsing medieval-era Islamic structures over decade-old temples destroyed by invaders.
In his fiery speech in the state assembly, while replying to the motion of thanks to the governor’s address, Yogi Adityanath hailed the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
“"We kept promises made to the people with the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla was wonderful, and an unforgettable moment"”
The UP CM drew parallels with Shri Krishna asking for five villages and now the Hindu society asking justice for Varanasi and Mathura.
“"Ayodhya faced curfews and prohibitions during the rule of the previous government. For centuries, Ayodhya became a victim of ugly intentions. It faced injustice. And when I speak of injustice, I must speak of the injustice that took place 5,000 years ago. Pandavas too faced injustice. At that time, Bhagwan Shri Krishna went to the Kauravas and said Bas dedo kewal paanch gram and rakho dharthi tamam (Give us only five villages Keep the rest with yourself) Krishna told them. Duryodhan woh bhi de na saka, ashish samaj ki le na saka…," he said.
"This is what happened with Ayodhya, Kashi, Mathura...Krishna wanted five villages at that time but now the Hindu society for several years has been seeking justice for only three centres -- the centres of our faith. These three centres are very special to the faith," he added.
Criticising the Opposition, the Chief Minister said that such has been the impact of “vote bank politics” over these three places – Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi that “for thousands of years, the majority community was forced to beg".
'Nandi Baba wondered why he should wait'
“Ayodhya ka utsav logon ne dekha toh Nandi Baba ne bhi kaha ki hum kaahe intezar karein. Unhone intezaar kare bagair ratri mein barricade tudva daale. Aur humare Krishna Kanhaiya kahan manne wale hain. ( After seeing the celebrations in Ayodhya, Nandi Baba said why should he wait and got the barricading fell that night itself. And our Krishna Kanhaiya is not going to wait). It was in a reference to the opening of the Vyas ji ka tahkhana in the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi. The cellar was opened after three decades after Varanasi district court allowed Hindu prayers to be held there.”

While Ram Mandir is built in Ayodhya now, Varanasi and Mathura are other two places that are part of a decades-old struggle on which medieval-era Islamic structures were built by demolishing temples and demand rights over those structures.
