Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah shared a cryptic message after making a comeback from an injury-prone phase to become the first Indian pacer ranked No. 1 in the ICC Test rankings. Notably, the Indian pacer achieved a significant milestone in his career, becoming the first bowler in cricket history to secure the No. 1 ranking in all three formats of the game.
It is pertinent to mention that Bumrah was heavily criticized after he was on hiatus for almost two years due to injuries so much so that the critics said it would be hard for him to find a spot in playing XI. Several fans trolled him on social media and questioned his loyalty to the national team. Many said on social media that he always turns up to play the IPL but has been absent from the Indian team in recent months.
He was also criticized for returning home for a short period during Asia Cup 2023 to welcome his first child with his wife Sanjana Ganesan. Now, when he has been ranked No.1 in all the formats, people including the critics congratulated him, Bumrah has expressed his disappointment at the hypocrisy.

However, subsequent injuries sidelined him from crucial events like the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, Border Gavaskar Trophy, IPL, and the World Test Championship Final in 2023, leading to back surgery in March of that year. But, as soon as he was back in the game, he led India in the 3-match T20I series against Ireland in August 2023, and later became as the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the ODI World Cup 2023.
During the 2-match Test series against South Africa, he was also named the Player of the Series, marking a memorable return to red-ball cricket after a 17-month hiatus.
Bumrah ranked No. 1 Test bowler
His No.1 ranking in Test came after his outstanding performance in the second Test against England in Vizag, where he claimed match figures of 9/91, earning him the Player of the Match award.
