In a surprising development, Indian star cricketer Virat Kohli, who withdrew from the India vs England series, took to social media to express his happiness following Rohit Sharma and Co's historic series win against England.

Notably, India defeated England by five wickets in the fourth Test match in Ranchi on Monday helping them side to win the series with a 3-1 lead in the five-match series. Kohli opted out of the Test series as he welcomed a baby boy Akaay with his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma. However, within minutes of the series win, Kohli posted a special message for the team.

"YES!!! Phenomenal series win by our young team. Showed grit, determination and resilience. @BCCI," he posted on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

It is not the first time he has congratulated the team when he was unavailable. After a disastrous first match in Adelaide, Kohli had returned to India for birth of his first child. India, who were without many of their key players including Kohli, produced an inspiring performance to defeat Australia by three wickets at The Gabba, sealing the series 2-1.

Speaking on this, Kohli wrote, "WHAT A WIN!!! Yessssss. To everyone who doubted us after Adelaide, stand up and take notice. Exemplary performance but the grit and determination was the standout for us the whole way. Well done to all the boys and the management. Enjoy this historic feat lads. Cheers @BCCI."

Chasing a target of 192, the opening duo of skipper Rohit Sharma (55 off 81 balls) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (37 of 44 balls) provided the perfect platform for others to build with their 84-run stand on day four of the match. However, there were some hiccups wherein Rajat Patidar and Ravindra Jadeja were dismissed dismissal but Shubman Gill (52 not out) and Dhruv Jurel (39 not out) guided the side past the finishing line with an unbeaten 72-run partnership.

India lead 3-1 in the series with the last game scheduled in Dharamsala from March 7. The team's last home series loss was a 1-2 defeat to an Alastair Cook-led England in 2012-13. Since then, India have won 39 out of 50 Tests at home.
