Islamabad, Jan 31: After Pakistan accused India of its agents' involvement in killing terrorists on Pakistani soil, China backed its ally saying the claims made by Islamabad were "worth our attention".

In a press briefing, the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin blatantly went on to say that Beijing is opposed to double standards on counter-terrorism, which is supposed to be a dig at India that regularly accuses China of blocking the UN ban on Pakistan-based terrorists.

"I want to stress that terrorism is humanity's common enemy. China opposes double standards on counter-terrorism, which benefits no one and will only backfire. China stands for strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation among all countries to jointly fight all forms of terrorism," the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said.

What were Pakistan's allegations against Indian agents?

Pakistan had claimed that it has "evidence" of links between "Indian agents" and assassination of two terrorists -

1. Shahid Latif, a key aide to Masood Azhar, the chief of the terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed, and the mastermind behind the 2016 attack on the Indian Air Force base in Pathankot, was shot dead in a mosque in Sialkot.

2. Unidentified gunmen killed Riyaz Ahmad, also known as Abu Qasim, associated with the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist outfit, a key conspirator in the Dhangri terror attack that occurred in Jammu and Kashmir on 1st January 2023.

It alleged that India was carrying out extra-territorial and extra-judicial killings inside Pakistan.

India slams Pakistan

After noticing such statements from Pakistan, India slammed Pakistan, saying the country has been the epicentre of terrorism and will reap what it sows. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared a press release in response to media queries regarding remarks made by the Pakistan Foreign Ministry. In this press release, he said, "We have seen media reports regarding certain remarks by Pakistan Foreign Secretary. It is Pakistan’s latest attempt at peddling false and malicious anti-India propaganda."

"As the world knows, Pakistan has long been the epicentre of terrorism, organised crime, and illegal transnational activities. India and many other countries have publicly warned Pakistan cautioning that it would be consumed by its own culture of terror and violence."

Further, he said, "Pakistan will reap what it sows. To blame others for their misdeeds can neither be a justification nor a solution."
