After being responsible for the partition of India and Pakistan 75 years ago, it seems like Britain is continuing the habit of working against India. This comes as UK High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Mariott's visit to Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir has created an uproar.

British High Commissioner to Pakistan's visit to PoK

On January 10, UK High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Mariott visited Mirpur, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir calling it a visit to enhance relations between the United Kingdom and Pakistan. Moreover, she also shared images of her visit on the X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Salaam from Mirpur, the heart of the UK and Pakistan’s people to people ties! 70% of British Pakistani roots are from Mirpur, making our work together crucial for diaspora interests. Thank you for your hospitality!"

Now questions are being raised whether the British High Commissioner has visited POK on her own will, or whether the visit to Pakistan occupied Kashmir has the approval of Rishi Sunak-led government.

This is not the first time the British envoy is under fire. During her tenure as British High Commissioner to Kenya, she erupted controversy saying that tap water is rare privilege in Kenya. "I'm appreciating and enjoying a (gluten free - am coeliac) pizza, the privilege of tap water...and some Kenya reading, as the big issues continue to challenge us all," she posted.

There has been no reaction from the Ministry of External Affairs till now.
