New Delhi, Sept 8: In a significant development, reports surfaced that prominent business leaders including Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani were invited to the G20 special dinner. However, the government has refuted these reports calling them "misleading".

Clarified that it has not extended invites any business leaders for the G20 special dinner, the government said, "No business leaders have been invited to the dinner."
 

What happened? 

An earlier report by news agency Reuters indicated that India's wealthiest entrepreneurs, led by billionaires Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, would be joining G20 leaders for a dinner in the capital city on Saturday. It claimed that a total of 500 business leaders had been invited to the dinner.
 
The report, quoting two sources, claimed that other than Ambani and Adani, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran, Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, Bharti Airtel founder-chairman Sunil Mittal have also been invited.
 
 
"This dinner... will host various world leaders and provides an opportunity to bring together India's business elite during the leaders' summit," said an Indian official who spoke to the news agency.
 
However, it has been made clear by the government that no such invites have been sent out to business leaders.
