In a recent incident from Gujarat's Solangpur, where the Swaminarayan sect stood in contradiction to the other Hindu sects, an agitated Hindu man identified as Harshad Gadhvi from Charanki village near Ranpur in Saurashtra at around noon of Sept 2, reportedly attacked controversial murals of Hanuman ji at Salangpur. He was with a stick and black paint color which he applied over the controversial murals. Police nabbed him with minimum efforts.

Salangpur Controversy

The temple management had earlier closed the main gate to prevent any further attack on controversial murals in which the Hindu God Hanuman has been shown bowing to Sahajanand Swami of the Swaminarayan sect with folded hands. Railing supported by tall bamboo sticks has been installed around the platform of the ‘King of Salangpur’ statue of Hanuman on which controversial murals are situated.

As the issue catalyzed further, and saints other than those belonging to Swaminarayan sect started protests, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Government of Gujarat initiated efforts. Yesterday (Sept 4), two meetings were held in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad. The meeting at Gandhinagar was held at Chief Minister's residence in the presence of Swaminarayan saints, ministers and others. The meeting in Ahmedabad was held at Shivanand Ashram in presence of Swaminarayan saints, non-Swaminarayan saints and VHP leaders. VHP also issued a statement stating "Attempts are underway and solution will arrive soon on Salangpur Hanuman issue."

What is the core loss of the Swaminarayan belief system & Sanatana Dharma?

In a post shared by Jashvant Raval, who refers himself as a Digital Creator, Raval has explained the implications of the entire incident on the core the belief system of the Swaminarayan sect as well as how the incident is also linked with the 'Sanatana Dharma'. He says;

"The Salangpur Controversy and the Swaminarayan Sect

Why did such a disaster occur?

Reconciliation was done but the sect lost a lot. Why?

--- Sarvapari Shabda itself is the opposite of eternal essence idea.

--- There are only two books authored or authenticated by Sahajananda Swami, 'Vachnamrit' and 'Shikshapatri'. Abandoning the attachment of these two, the eye sect started walking on green and charitra texts.

--- The ignorant and illiterate speakers of the sect started telling all sorts of vulgar and inferior stories.

--- The sect is in the Vaishnava tradition and the Shastra Siddhanta is 'Vishishthadvaita' completely forgotten.

--- Sahajananda Swami has placed idols of Bhagwan Narayana in all Shikharbandh temples.

--- The name of the sect was given as Swaminarayan and it was clearly pointed out that Bhagwan Narayana is the Bhagwan or worshiper of the sect.

Forgetting all this, he made Sahajananda Swami Swaminarayan and made him supreme.

--- Enslaved other gods to achieve this.

--- Swami Narayan Sampradaya, especially Vadtal and Kalupur Gadi (North and South country) come first. Salangpur hears the occasion as a wake-up call for reform and not in any other way."

He further quoted a summary of what he meant in the most apt words saying, "No one is supreme than Sanatana. Even the strongest decays eventually when left alone. Take refuge in Narayana."

In the most recent of the ongoing series of incidents, the controversial carved mural panels distorting Hanuman ji were removed earlier in the morning from the platform of ‘King of Salangpur’ statue, just after midnight today by the Vadtal branch of Swaminarayan sect.
