Ahmedabad, Sep 16: Stones were reportedly pelted on 'Shivji ki savari' procession that was held on the last day of sacred month of Shravan on Friday (Sep 15) in Thasra . The stone pelting allegedly took place from a Muslim Madrasa and the Hindu procession came under attack.

Reports suggest that the incident appeared pre-planned. Large stones were used to attack the Hindu procession in the afternoon. Hindus participating in processions had to leave the procession mid-way leaving their shoes on the roads. Police have controlled the situation and additional deployment was made.
 
 
  
 
 
The incident reportedly happened at around 3 pm in the afternoon. Police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. In an annual tradition, a procession of Bhagwan Shiva takes place on the last day of Shravan month in Thasra . The same was scheduled at around 1 pm on Monday (Sep 15).
 
 
At around 3 p.m. when the procession reached the city square, stones were hurled at Hindu devotees from a nearby Madarsa, which is why, the Hindus participating in processions were forced to abandon the yatra mid-way, to save their lives. A stampede-like situation developed, with many people running to seek refuge. In the incident, three police officers were hurt, including two officers and one PSI. Although it is yet not known whether any devotees were hurt.
