Prominent Author Shefali Vaidya was the Chief Guest of the event, whereas Former BJP MP, Pradeep Rawat was the President of the book launch program. The book 'A Hindu in Oxford', penned down by Rashmi Samant, narrates the story of an Indian girl, who dared to fight the Students' Union Election at Oxford University and win it and how her life changed after the elections. The book is Rashmi's medium to extend her experiences with the British society and how the Oxford University was not ready to have an Indian President for their Students' Union.

During the book launch event, Rashmi Samant freely interacted with the audience and also answered their questions. Crowd from Pune greeted the author with a very warm welcome. The crowd connected with Samant as she shared the racist experiences that she had faced in UK shortly after being democratically elected as the President of Students' Union at Oxford, which was followed with even more severe experiences, eventually leading to death threats to the young woman, resulting in her forced resignation from her position.

Samant shared that during such conditions, she received great support from India through social media, for her fight against the injustice that was happening with her in UK and that Shefali Vaidya was one important name on the list, which is why, it was really over-whelming for her to know that Vaidya was the Chief Guest for her book launch event, here in Pune. The Author was undergoing severe psychological issues during the challenging period at Oxford. She was facing issues like Sleep Paralysis. Samant acknowledged the power of Bhagavad Gita that helped her significantly during her revival from the psychological impact of the torture she faced in the UK. (NB Exclusive)
