"When 'Rakesh Roshan reached the moon', Indira Gandhi asked him how India looked from there and he had replied 'Saare jahan se acha Hindostan hamara'" - Mamata Banerjee

New Delhi, Aug 24: As the entire nation celebrated successful soft landing of Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander on lunar surface yesterday (Aug 23), Indian politicians, the opposition in particular, shredded their knowledge on India's Space Missions. First in line was Rajasthan's Sports Minister Ashok Chandna who congratulated the crew of Chandrayaan-3 for the success of the mission, the second person was West Bengal CM & TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee, whose comment was no less than content for a stand-up comedy performance.

Opposition reacts to Chandrayaan 3's success

In a funny incident, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday (Aug 23) said when 'Rakesh Roshan reached the moon', Indira Gandhi asked him how India looked from there. The West Bengal CM was addressing an event after ISRO's Chandrayaan 3 successfully soft landed on the south pole of the moon yesterday (Aug 23).

The video became a hit on social media as Mamata Banerjee confused astronaut Rakesh Sharma with Bollywood personality Rakesh Roshan, father of Hrithik Roshan. Besides, Rakesh Sharma never landed on the moon. His conversation with Indira Gandhi was from space. When Indira Gandhi interacted with Sharma asking him, "Upar se Bharat kaisa dikhta hai aapko (How does India look like from space?)," he had replied "Sare jahan see accha."

Earlier another opposition minister showcased his knowledge about India's space missions as the Rajasthan Sports Minister Ashok Chandna congratulated the 'passengers' who were on Chandrayaan 3 after its successful soft landing. He had said before the landing, "Agar safe landing hui, to jo yatri gaye hain hamare unko salaam karta hu (If we are successful and make a safe landing, I salute the passengers).”

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar was asked on Chandrayaan 3 before the soft landing. He apparently did not understand the question and asked the minister who was with him. Interestingly, Mamata Banerjee and Nitish Kumar are among the key leaders of the INDIA alliance, and their responses about India's ambitious Chandrayaan-3 mission has spoken volumes about the 'potential of the opposition' to take conscious stance against the policies of BJP-led govt.
