Nexter to supply 10 THL 20 remotely-operated Turrets to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited made choppers

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has ordered 10 THL 20 remotely operated turrets from Nexter for use on its indigenously developed helicopters. The order was announced at the ongoing airshow.
The THL20 serves as the primary weapon of the Indian Army's Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) and Light Combat Helicopter (LCH). It currently has a fleet of 110 choppers.
This new order is part of Nexter and HAL's long-standing cooperation, which began in 2006 with the qualification and commissioning of the THL20 on Indian Army helicopters.
The THL20 turret is mounted with a 20mm gun from Nexter that fires NATO-compatible 20x102mm ammunition. It is controlled via the pilot's helmet and the helicopter's optronic system and is extremely light.
The THL20 can engage targets at distances of up to 2000m with pinpoint accuracy. This simple-to-install turret is suitable for retrofitting existing helicopters.
