NB Twitter Soch | Auto driver inappropriately touches foreigner woman in Rajasthan; second such incident

It seems Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan hasn't learnt from its previous mistakes, as months after an incident where a Korean blogger was sexually harassed while shooting a live blog, now similar took place in the state. This time an autorickshaw driver molested a female foreign tourist in Rajasthan's pink city Jaipur.

 

The incident came to light after a video went viral on social media.

 

In the video posted on Twitter Monday by the chairman of the Delhi Commission for Women, Swati Maliwal, the auto driver can be seen walking alongside the woman and touching her inappropriately at least twice. The woman can be seen expressing her discomfort with this man’s approach.

 

Following this, police swang into the action and arrest him. The accused, identified as Kuldeep Singh Sisodia (40), was nabbed from Nokha town of Bikaner district Tuesday night, they said.

 

 

 

Bharat Singh Rathore, Station House Officer of Vidhayakpuri police station, said after a video was received on the police helpline WhatsApp number, a case under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code was registered Monday night.

 

According to the primary probe, the video is of Motilal Atal Road where a British foreigner, along with her friend, had stayed 18 days ago, he said.

 

The accused who appears to be a taxi or cab driver was seen touching the woman inappropriately and walking beside her. The arrested accused will be brought to Jaipur for interrogation, police said.

 

Past incidents

 

There have been a number of situations in the past in Rajasthan where foreign visitors have claimed that state residents molested them. In April of this year, a 25-year-old guy was detained in Jodhpur for exposing his genitals to a Korean woman tourist. The female visitor had captured the entire episode on camera and put it online.

 

In addition to this, a 53-year-old train attendant is accused of sexually assaulting an Italian tourist on the Ranikhet Express in Jodhpur in April of this year. At the time of the occurrence, the woman was travelling alone to Jaisalmer.
