Former Union Minister & Rajya Sabha member Prakash Javadekar has been appointed as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s incharge for Telangana. Moving swiftly after naming a new President for Telangana BJP on Jul 5th, the party on Friday (Jul 7) appointed national leaders to help steer the party towards victory in the Assembly elections.
The BJP announced the appointment of Prakash Javadekar, a former Union Minister and party member in the Rajya Sabha, as Telangana’s Election Affairs In-Charge, and party national general secretary Sunil Bansal to assist Javadekar. Javadekar was also the election in-charge in Telangana during the 2014 elections. Ironically, at that time, it was Kishan Reddy who was heading the state unit, making it the second time in nine years that the two senior BJP leaders will be working together during elections.
The party leaders hope that the Javadekar-Kishan Reddy combo, assisted by Sunil Bansal, who considered the brains behind winning a second term for Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh, will work again this year in Telangana.
Prakash Javadekar's appointment as Telangana's BJP in-charge is an unprecedented combination of Strategy & Diplomacy
If we closely observe Prakash Javadekar's political career from the early days of Jan Sangh, we will notice that although he has held ministerial positions several times, but his real persona is of a hardcore organizer. Today, BJP has only one MLA in Telangana, Although BJP gave a tough fight to Telangana Rashtra Samithi (Now BRS) in Hyderabad Municipal Elections, yet, except for Karnataka, Southern India remains a barren land for BJP. In such circumstances, Prakash Javadekar's appointment as Telangana in-charge is an unprecedented combination of Strategy and Diplomacy played by BJP.
While on one hand Chandrasekhar Rao himself is leaving his state and trying to conquer Maharashtra, on the other hand important leaders of his party are carrying the flag of the Congress party on their shoulders. In such situation, from now onwards , BJP will have a golden opportunity to occupy the Congress Party Space against K Chandrasekhar Rao. Prakash Javadekar has previously served as the in-charge of Telangana during the 2008, 2012 and 2014 elections. Now once again he has been appointed to this same post.
While "Dakshina Digvijay" was crucial to Narendra Modi's victory in the 2014 elections, Prakash Javadekar played a significant role in Telangana. Chandrababu Naidu was not even ready to discuss with BJP in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. But Prakash Javadekar worked very skillfully to persuade him and bring His Telugu Desam Party in the National Democratic Alliance(NDA).
Prakash Javadekar is currently an MP in the Rajya Sabha, we have to remember that Chandrababu Naidu was ready to nominate him from his Telugu Desam Party when he was facing difficulties in getting Rajya Sabha membership. From this it can be seen that Prakash Javadekar has earned a lot of trust in Andhra and Telangana. Therefore, giving this responsibility to him by the party is a testimony of the trust he has earned.
