‘Not good for you’: Jaishankar gives stern warning to Canada on Indira Gandhi's murder celebration

Objecting strongly to the celebrations of late PM Indira Gandhi's assassination took place in Canada, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar hit out at Canada for allowing a float in a parade in Brampton.
 
He said, "Space given to separatists, extremists and people who advocate violence in Canada is “not good” for the country’s relationship with India."

In a shocking incident, a tableau glorifying the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards was allegedly paraded in Canada's Brampton on Sunday, June 4. A clip is doing rounds on the internet where the statue of the former Indian PM can be seen drenched in blood.
 
 
 
Reacting to which," “I think there is a bigger issue involved… Frankly, we are at a loss to understand other than the requirements of vote bank politics why anybody would do this… I think there is a larger underlying issue about the space which is given to separatists, to extremists, to people who advocate violence.”
 
“I think it is not good for relationships (with India), not good for Canada,” the EAM added.
 
On Thursday, Canada’s High Commissioner for India Cameron MacKay condemned the incident. “I am appalled by reports of an event in Canada that celebrated the assassination of late Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. There is no place in Canada for hate or for the glorification of violence. I categorically condemn these activities,” he, too, said on Twitter.
