The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast fairly widespread to widespread rains of light to moderate intensity, along with isolated heavy to very heavy downpours (64.5 mm-204 mm), across Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh during the next five days — from Friday to next Tuesday (Jun 30 to Jul 4).

As per these predictions, the IMD has issued an ORANGE ALERT over the above mentioned subdivisions for this forecast period. The advisory urges the residents to ‘be prepared’ for rough conditions. According to reports, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura could also be in for some isolated heavy showers (64.5 mm-115.5 mm), and have therefore been issued a YELLOW ALERT (meaning ‘be aware’ of local weather) for the next two days.

Furthermore, some of this rain spell may also spill over to the adjoining East Indian states, with Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar prone to isolated heavy rainfall for the next 24 hours.
