Mumbai, June 29: Mumbai police have filed a case against unknown individuals for reportedly attaching cracker bombs to some residences in Navi Mumbai and posting stickers endorsing the banned Islamic Pro terror organisation Popular Front of India (PFI).

According to them, the stickers and bombs have been recovered, and an investigation has been opened. In the wee hours of Saturday, several unknown individuals wrote "PFI Zindabad" and "786" on stickers and pasted it on the entrances of a home in the New Panvel neighbourhood. In addition, cracker bombs and incense sticks were discovered tied at two additional houses nearby, according to a crime report from the police.

According to reports, the Khandeshwar police on Saturday night filed a FIR under Indian Penal Code section 153A (promote hatred between different groups based on religion, race, place of birth, or domicile) against unnamed individuals.

According to the police, no arrests have been made in relation to this case to date.

Under the strict Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the federal government banned PFI and a number of its associates in September of last year for a period of five years on the grounds that they had "links" to international terrorist organisations like ISIS.
