The current media buzz is around the death of foreign terrorists, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the chief of Khalistan Tiger Force based in Surrey, Canada, Avtar Singh Khanda, the head of Khalistan Liberation Force based in the UK and the mastermind behind the fraudster Amritpal, Paramjit Singh Panjwar, the chief of Khalistan Commando Force chief housed in Lahore’s Sunflower Society, Pakistan. This buzz shows the overall inclination of media outlets and poses a question about their sensitivity to ordinary Indian citizens who have been massacred out of gun-based conspiracies.

25th June is also the martyrdom day of Banda Singh Vairagi, the disciple of Guru Govind Singh. The Shahidi Sthal of Baba Banda Singh Vairagi existed as gurudwara in Mehrauli, Delhi, within 1 KM from the famous monument Kutub Minar which you may/must have visited. You may have seen the statue of Banda Singh Vairagi near the mandi house metro station, installed in 2016 by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. You may have encountered a flyover connecting AIIMS Delhi to Sarai Kale Khan, renamed Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Setu, in 2016.

If you notice, it is all in 2016, all after the 300 years when 2000 Sikh heads were paraded in Delhi, and the heart of Banda Singh’s son was taken out in front of him and its blood forcefully fed to Banda Singh’s mouth. The question is why Delhi took around 300 years to remember this Braveheart. Banda Singh established the first Sikh state with an official seal and coins. Numerous RSS shakhas are named after him, and one may be operating just near you if you search. Numerous RSS geet sing the valor of Baba Banda Singh.

One fine morning on the same 25th of June, in the year 1989, a shakha was being held at Jawahar Lal Nehru Park in Moga. The Bhagwa Dhwaj (saffron flag), representing sacrifice, knowledge, and the valor of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was furling high. The terrorist came with AK-47 rifles/bombs and asked the Swyamsevaks to lower the Bhagwa Dhwaj. The very blood of Swyamsevak contains the elements of “Patatvesh Kayo” through their Sangh Prathna. They refused to bow down, and 25 Swyamsevak gave their supreme offering to our tradition of sacrifice, knowledge, and valor.

However, the most interesting thing happened on 26th June, on the same ground which was adorned by the sacrifice of Swyamsevak, a shakha was again held, and they sang the famous song in Punjabi, “Kaun Kahanda Hindu-Sikh Vakh Ne, Ae Bharat Maa Di Sajji-Khabbi Akh Ne.” Terrorists/ riot mongers thought that by the use of guns, they could threaten the Swyamsevak. However, the conscience of swyamsevak has “Veer Vrat” as an inherent constituent, which was reflected on 26th June by holding the same shakha again, which shunned the gun and bombs of terrorists.

The park was renamed Shahidi Park. A memorial has been built, and the memorial committee pays homage to the martyrs every year on the Sunday after the 25th of June. This event showed how to foil the attempts of those trying to create division among Indians. As demon forces of society remain active, we need to have an indestructible faith that should be awakened day and night in our hearts. The same omkar gave power to Banda Singh 300 years ago and swyamsevak in 1989 to fight against all tyranny. Fanatics can use a sword or gun or create any conspiracy. However, the same “ No” answer will come from that indestructible faith, be it Banda Singh or the swyamsevak of Moga. The same ordinary citizens of this country will fight and win against all the ploys, no matter how elite the demon force is, whether they are coming from Canada, UK, or Pakistan.
