Big terror plot averted! Five terrorists trained in Afghanistan killed in J&K's Kupwara

Kupwara, June 17: The joint security forces on early Friday in a major operation neutralized five highly trained foreign terrorists of JK Ghaznavi Force (JKGF) who were trying to infiltrate into the Indian territory in Jumagund area near Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

What we know so far-

 
Based upon specific intelligence developed by the J&K police about the likely infiltration of a group of five highly trained terrorists of Jammu Kashmir Ghaznavi Force (JKGF), a well though-out and tactically designed operation was planned with the Army.
 
The Army decided to launch a joint opertion along with the J&K Police against seasoned terrorists trained in Guerrilla warfare in the Afghan-Pakistan theatre.
 
The Indian Forces achieved success as five terrorists were killed in the encounter in the Jumagund area along the Line of Control in Kupwara.
 
 
According to the officials, the encounter took place on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday .
 
"On being intercepted, the terrorists attacked the joint ambush parties which were retaliated by superior and well-controlled firepower resulting in the encounter and consequent neutralization without any loss to Indian security forces," sources told ANI on condition of anonymity.
 
Taking note of this, security officials said, "We received strong inputs of infiltration and swiftly established many ambushes on routes during the intervening night of June 15 and 16. We detected a movement of terrorists and they fired upon which later changed into the encounter in which five foreign terrorists were killed and five AK 47, grenades, and night vision devices were recovered."
 
Out of the five terrorists affiliated to JKGF, two have been identified as Rafiq Nai and Shamsher Nai alias Zafar Iqbal, both residents of J&K's Poonch. The third terrorist identified as Murtaza Pathan alias Ghaznvi is an Afghan war veteran and was working as a JKGF handler in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. He was also affiliated with the Deoband School of thought as an operational commander supervising tactical aspects from POJK.
