India is likely to sell its highly accomplished BrahMos missiles to Vietnam, cementing a deepening defence cooperation between the two countries.
Vietnam is expected to place an order between three to five units of BrahMos missiles. And with each battery, consisting of multiple missiles, projected to be priced at approximately $125 million, the potential deal could range between $375 million and $625 million - depending on the number of units Vietnam intends to acquire.
According to reports, India's successful sale of three BrahMos missiles to the Philippines for $375 million last year was significant. One of the most sophisticated anti-ship and land-attack missiles in the world, the missiles are renowned for their adaptability, accuracy, and supersonic speed. Apart from Vietnam, it is also reported that Indonesia has shown interest in acquiring the BrahMos missiles, further underlining the growing demand and appeal of this Indian-Russian collaboration.
The development is significant because it takes place just before Vietnam's Defence Minister Phan Văn Giang's trip to New Delhi on June 19. Both nations have the chance to develop their defence capabilities and deepen their bilateral ties during the visit.

The BrahMos missiles, which were jointly developed by India and Russia, have attracted a lot of interest from countries looking to improve their defence capabilities due to its supersonic speed, precision navigation, and versatility. The transfer of BrahMos missiles to Vietnam could strengthen strategic ties between the two countries given India's expanding role as a significant exporter of defence technology.
This proposed agreement might help strengthen Southeast Asia's defence infrastructure as both nations fight to maintain stability and security in the area.
