Complaint filed against Sujata Anandan over "Shivaji's army raped women" tweet

Mumbai, April 14: After her controversial tweet against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, BJP MLA Nitesh Rane has filed a criminal complaint against senior journalist Sujata Anandan for her tweet "Shivaji army raped women".
The complaint was filed at Santacruz police station addressing the senior inspector. Rane said, "her tweet has hurt the sentiments of millions of followers of the Maratha leader. The tweet did not have even an iota of historical truth in it".
He has also leveled charges against Congress State President Nana Patole for "employing her for her filty language against Chhatrapati Shivaji in her tweet."
In the letter, he said, "Sujata Anandan has leveled baseless allegations against Hindu Rhuday Samrat Chhatrapati Shivaji in her tweet which has hurt the sentiments of billion plus Indian citizens who love Chatrapati Shivaji Maaraj.

"Moreover her tweet has no iota of truth if we go by evidences mentione in history. So I urge you to register FIR against both under IPC Sections153A 295A, 504 and other relevant IPL sections and IT Act and arrest and prosecute them for the same, Failing to do so I would be forced to approach competent judicial authority."

Earlier, Sujata Anandan, the editor of the Congress mouthpiece National Herald tweeted, "Taj Mahal is no abomination. It is one of the seven wonders of the world and India gets maximum tourist returns from that monument. Chhatrapati Shivaji was great, of course. But his exploits would be reduced to nothing without the Moghuls he fought against. Defied them. Was captured by them. Escaped their high-security dungeons. Defeated them in many battles. Was a constant thorn in the side of Emperor Aurangzeb who could never overcome Shivaji. Take away the Moghuls and you take away the raison d’etre of Chhatrapati Shivaji.”

It is as if she is trying to say that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj would have been a "nobody" without the battles he fought against the Mughals.
Further, Sujata Anandan also went on to claim, "How twisted is the bigoted sense of RSS history. Even Shivaji’s army was looting and raping, that was what conquering armies did in those days. Your great icon Savarkar labelled Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj a rank fool for not raping the daughter-in-law of the Muslim governor of Kalyan and pulling up his soldiers for involving women in their war. Closer home, Bilkis Bano’s rapists are sharing platforms with your ministers."
