The liberals are at it again! Their selectiveness in sharing their so-called information is something very dangerous for society yet funny. They fail every time when they attempt to spread their propaganda to create disharmony among citizens.
In yet another such instance, Mohammed Zubair, the so-called fact checker claimed that India is the fourth country that give donations to the UN Democracy Fund, which funds at least 68 projects worldwide linked to George Soros's Open Society Foundation. He shared a article published on Indian Express to support his claim.
With his claim, he also tried to claim that India despite being against Soros is the 4th largest donor of the UN Democracy Fund. He said, "India fourth highest donor to UN Democracy Fund, which funds at least 68 projects worldwide linked to “rich old opinionated dangerous” man George Soros’s Open Society Foundation."
Supporting him, the "journalist" Rana Ayyub also came forward. Sharing the Indian Express news report wrote, she tweeted, “No caption Needed.”
Nidhi Razdan, another "journalist" taking jibe at the Foreign Minister, Jaishankar, tweeted, "EAM Jaishankar called George Soros old and dangerous but India is among the top contributors to the UN Democracy Fund."
This came after Indian Express shared another infographic of the same article on Twitter. It contained statistics detailing India's contribution to the UN Democracy Fund from 2005 to 2022.
From 2005 through 2014, a time period which was run by the UPA government, India contributed huge amounts to the UN Democracy Fund. India gave $5 million each to the UN Democracy Fund in the year of 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2011, when Manmohan Singh was Prime Minister. However, there were no donations given in the years 2007 and 2010. Even in 2012, it had donated $4.71 million.
Further, when the BJP government took the power, the donation contributed to the UN Democracy Fund went down. India contributed $200,000 in 2014 and 2015, however, funding was reduced to $50,000 in 2016. There were no donations made in 2017. India donated $100,000 in 2018 and 2019. And in the years 2020, 2021, and 2022 India gave $150,000 to UN Democracy Fund.
This means the figures for donations had declined significantly since 2014. Download the report here :
