Even though Hindus are in majority in India, there is need to deploy security during Hindu festivals. Reason - Violence, stone pelting and what not. And when a non-Hindu festival takes place, suddenly there is no need of security.
In yet another such act of violence happened on the occasion of Hindu fesival Ram Navami, stones were pelted during the Ram Navami immersion procession in Jharkhand's Jamshedpur. It has left five persons injured.
Stone pelting and violence on Ram Navami continued till late at night on Friday as clashes broke out between Hindus and Muslims in Jamshedpur's Haldipokhar area in Jharkhand.
Stones were pelted during a Ram Navami immersion procession here after radical Islamists opposed the procession. In retaliation, Hindu groups organised a 'Hanuman Chalisa' recitation to their response.
Soon after it, the immersion procession was attacked with stones by the group. However, to avert any untoward incident in the area, a heavy security presence has been ensured in the locality.
The developments come after incidents of violence were reported from West Bengal's Howrah and Bihar's Sasaram and Nalanda, Gujarat, and Maharashtra during Ram Navami celebrations on Friday.
