Speaking to reporters, CM Bommai said, "The scams done by the Congress party are not one or two. The time has come for that party to become extinct. Those leaders have called for bandh, thinking they can write their political future through protests and bandh, but no one will support it."

He added, "People who make allegations must be clean handed, only then will it have some value. But the Congress leaders have indulged in corruption, starting from small items like pillows, mattresses, coffee, biscuits to irrigation. During the Congress regime, the then CM Siddaramaiah had given the target for all the ministers. Ask M B.Patil, Dr H C.Mahadevappa or K J.George regarding the target given to them. The Congress party is filled with corruption and their games will not be entertained. The people will decide in the election arena."

Replying to a question on the re-inauguration of the Shivaji Maharaj statue in Belagavi, he said the previous CM B S.Yediyurappa had released Rs 50 lakh for this purpose. The Congress leaders have made this drama purely for false prestige. It is not correct to politicise in the name of the national leaders.

KPCC president, D K Shivakumar has called a bandh in the state that will be observed from 9 am to 11 am on March 9 to protest against the 'corrupt' Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government.

The call for bandh comes after veteran Congress leader Siddarahmaiah staged a massive protest in Bengaluru and launched the 'Pay MLA' campaign as a mark of protest against sitting BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa. They also demanded the BJP MLA's arrest.

The Congress reiterated its 40% commission charge against the Bommai government and demanded the CM's resignation.
