Budgam, Mar 13: In a heinous and horrifying crime coming from Jammu and Kashmir, a man killed a 30-year-old woman, chopped her body into several pieces, and dumped them in different locations in Budgam district. The woman was abducted on March 8 and her family subsequently filed a missing complaint with the police. This development had triggered widespread protests across central Kashmir.

 

The accused has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Wani, a resident of Mohandpora Budgam. He revealed that he chopped the woman's body into several pieces and buried the parts at different locations. All the parts of the body have been recovered and medico-legal formalities are underway. Police are investigating the case.

 

"On March 8, Tanveer Ahmad Khan of Soibug Budgam submitted an application to the Police Post Soibug stating that his sister (name withheld), age 30 yrs left for the coaching classes on March 07 but didn’t return home. In this regard, the missing report was registered and the investigation was started. Police rounded up several suspects including Shabir Ahmad Wani S/O Abdul Aziz Wani R/O Mohandpora Budgam," police said in a statement.

 

 

The statement added, "After sustained interrogation, Shabir confessed to having murdered the missing girl. To hide his crime, the culprit had cut the body into pieces and buried the parts at different locations. On his disclosure, the parts have been recovered. Medico-legal formalities are underway. The investigation is on."

 

While the police are yet to reveal the motive of the murder, the woman's family has claimed the man had earlier approached her family with a proposal of marriage, but the woman had turned it down. The woman's family reportedly claimed that Ahmad had been visiting her house for some tiles-related work.

 

 

This is the second such incident reported from Kashmir in the past week. Last Friday, a Hindu female doctor was stabbed to death by her boyfriend Dr Johar Ganai. The couple allegedly fought over an issue and the man, in a fit of rage, stabbed his girlfriend with a kitchen knife. He also attempted to end his life with the same knife and is now undergoing treatment at Government Medical College in Jammu.

 

The murder in Jammu and Kashmir is a grim reminder of the gruesome Shradha Walker murder case in Delhi, where a man named Aftab had killed his live-in partner, chopped her body into more than 35 pieces and dumped them in the jungles of Mehrauli. The incident came to light about eight months after the crime happened and sent shockwaves across the country, reigniting the 'love jihad' debate. In a similar incident, a man named Sahil Gehlot allegedly killed his secretly married wife Nikki Yadav and stuffed her body into a fridge.
