Amid the India-China border standoff, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has sent revolutionary greetings to Xi Jinping on his re-election as the President of China for the third time.
In a tweet, the veteran Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader commended China’s prominent role in world politics and wished success in the President’s efforts for a smarter China.
“Revolutionary greetings to Comrade Xi Jinping on being elected as the President of the People’s Republic of China for the third time. China has become a prominent voice in world politics, and it is commendable. Wishing success in his continued efforts for a smarter China,” tweeted the Chief Minister.
The tweet from the Kerala Chief Minister comes at a time when India and China are dealing with a border dispute in Ladakh, which has led to tensions between the two countries.
China's Parliament on Friday had unanimously endorsed an unprecedented third five-year term for President Xi.
Xi, 69, was re-elected by the once-in-a-five-year Congress of the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) as its leader in October last year, becoming the first Chinese leader after party founder Mao Zedong to continue in power beyond the two five-year terms.
