Srinagar, Mar 10: A Hindu female doctor was allegedly murdered by her male friend Dr Johar Ganai in Janipur area in Jammu and Kashmir on March 8.
The deceased was identified as 26-year-old Dr Sumedha, daughter of Kamal Kishore Sharma, resident of Talab Tillo (Jammu) while the accused was identified as Johar Ganai son of Mehmood Ganai, resident of Bhaderwah (at present living in Pamposh Colony, Janipur, Jammu).
The deceased girl came on Holi vacation and went straight to the accused person’s house where they had a fight with each other over some issue and in a fit of rage, the accused stabbed to death Dr Sumedha with a kitchen knife and later tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself also.
This crime came to light after the relative of the accused told the Janipur police that he shared on his facebook page that he is committing suicide as he is fed up with his life. Immediately, a team of police station Janipur led by SHO Inspector Vijay Kumar reached the house of the accused at Pamposh Colony, where it found the main gate of the house locked from the outside.
The police team broke into the house and was astonished to see the accused in critical condition with stab injuries in his abdomen and with the dead body of his friend, Dr Sumedha lying in a pool of blood alongside. The girl also had stab injuries in her abdomen.
The body of the girl and the accused was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu where the accused is still admitted in ICU as his condition was stated to be critical. However, the body of the deceased girl was handed over to her family after completing all medico-legal formalities.
They said a case FIR Number 27/2023 under Section 302 was registered in this connection at Police Station Janipur and further investigation started. In initial investigation, it came to fore that the deceased doctor and the accused were close friends and both were in love for quite some time. Both had done their BDS from Dental College Seohra in Jammu and the girl was pursuing her MDS from a college outside J-K.
