Anuradha Bhasin, who wrote op-ed in NYT on Kashmir, a staunch supporter of terror outfit JKLF and anti-India activities?

The NYT article titled "Modi’s Final Assault on India’s Press Freedom Has Begun", has been written by Anuradha Bhasin, the Executive Editor of "The Kashmir Times" in which she has raised her so-called concerns about the condition of Freedom of the Press in India and alleged PM Modi of taking control of Indian media.

New York Times, once again has attempted to spit venom against India with Kashmir being the centerpiece. It is now very much obvious that the US-based leftist media is peddling propaganda by publishing anti-India articles. Similarly, it has now come up with another such article about suppressing freedom of the press in Kashmir. However, this time, one should be more focused on the writer of such an article.

The article titled "Modi’s Final Assault on India’s Press Freedom Has Begun", has been written by Anuradha Bhasin, the Executive Editor of 'The Kashmir Times' in which she has raised her so-called concerns about the condition of Freedom of the Press in India and alleged PM Modi of taking control of Indian media.

It should be noted Anuradha Bhasin is a daughter of Ved Bhasin, a staunch supporter of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), and a supporter who founded Kashmir Times newspaper to run JKLF, Hurriyat, anti-India narrative in Kashmir valley. There was a time when he also once introduced himself as Deputy Chairman JKLF in The Hague Netherlands.

Both of them used to get a huge amount of funds from the government through newspaper advertisements to run the narratives during the JKPDP/JKNC-led government. They had also managed to get two properties from the government to run "The Kashmir Times". One of them was used as office space while the other served as the residence of Ved Bhasin, the founder of The Kashmir Times. However, following Ved Bhasin's death in 2015 which was observed in different parts of Pakistan and other places organized by JKLF, the J&K administration issued notices to the family to vacate the government-allocated residence.

Anuradha Bhasin, blatantly lying, alleged that the administration had ‘locked down’ the newspaper’s office in Srinagar in an illegal manner. She started defaming India and the present Government with her writeups, interviews, and discussions in different national and international publications and platforms.

Apart from this, Anuradha Bhasin has also connections with the ISI. Ved Bhasin, along with her daughter Anuradha Bhasin, Ejaz Ul Haq (ex-Federal Minister of Pak), Prof. Angana Chatterji, and Gautam Navlakha (accused in 2018 Bhima-Koregaon case), was one of the frequent attendees of ISI-sponsored conferences organized by Fai & his Kashmir American Council.

Similar to his father's views, she blatantly supported the idea of Kashmir’s separation from India. The so-called journalist was a close friend of ISI mole Ghulam Nabi Fai in the United States. Fai, a Jamaat-e-Islami activist also praised Ved Bhasin after his death, saying that he was the only person who believed that the solution to Kashmir’s problem would be establishing a separate state.

Notably, in 2011 Anuradha Bhasin also extended support to Fai after he was accused of receiving money from the ISI for carrying out an anti-India pursuit of Kashmir. He was even jailed for two years in the United States after he pled guilty to defrauding the US by concealing the transfer of millions of dollars from the ISI and using them for anti-India operations.

Moreover, Anuradha Bhasin has also published a research paper titled ‘Fuelling the rage in Kashmir’ on JSTOR (International Academic Publication) wherein she has labelled Govt of India and has put govt on the radar against the killing of children at the hands of security forces. Apart from this, she has filed a writ petition against removal of Article 370 in Supreme Court.

So, is it worth getting shocked if an article like a violation of freedom press in Kashmir gets published by such anti-nationalist writer and that too in New York Times?
