In the last 2-3 days, one piece of news is getting viral all over social media be it on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest, which is “Kiara Sidhharth Wedding.” And everyone is getting head over heels for the wedding pictures. The same thing happened with Athiya Shetty and K.L Rahul when they got married a few days back, and with Katrina Kaif and Vickey Kaushal when they got married last year. One question remains the same, why these weddings are so a big deal, that major news from the world is getting sidelined for those 2-3 days?
Turkey has suffered a major earthquake that destroyed 10 cities in Turkey and Seria and killed more than 2000 people. RBI increased the repo rate by 6.5%. And there are so many major events that happened in our world and our Indian Youngsters should know about this, but we are majorly focusing on the weddings of these celebrities and other things are getting sidelined.
It is not happening for the first time. It started with Abhishek Aishwarya Bachchan’s wedding back in 2007. But the celebrity wedding’s started getting the major limelight when Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma got married, continued with Priyanka Chopra Nick Jonas, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif and Vickey Kaushal, Athiya Shetty, and K.L Rahul and now Kiara and Sid’s weddings.
The entertainment industry is a huge one and, there is nothing wrong with covering these weddings and posting about them. However making it a huge deal, or national news might reflect on other impactful events that are happening around the globe, and the next generations will never understand the importance of these important events until we will make a huge deal out of celebrity weddings.
What were they wearing, what design was there on Kiara’s Kalira, How many guests were invited, and what was the menu of their wedding? Is not a piece of important information that we should be knowing. It doesn’t make any sense. Gossip has always been a huge part of entertainment news, and now is the time to change the perspective. Celebrity weddings are well celebrated, but there should be a thin line between what we need to know about these events and what is unnecessary information.
