Vani Jairam, conferred with Padma Bhushan in 2023, found dead at her Chennai residence

The acclaimed singer died at her house on Haddows Road, Nungambakkam in Chennai and reports are that she had an injury on her forehead. She was 78 years old.Vani Jairam collaborated with some of the biggest composers across various industries and delivered evergreen chartbusters.

Chennai, February 04: National Award-winning legendary playback singer Vani Jairam, who was announced to receive the Padma Bhushan - the third-highest civilian award in India recently, has passed away.

The acclaimed singer died at her house on Haddows Road, Nungambakkam in Chennai and reports are that she had an injury on her forehead. She was 78 years old.Vani Jairam collaborated with some of the biggest composers across various industries and delivered evergreen chartbusters.
The talented singer has a number of songs in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Tulu and Oriya to her credit. She has performed extensively in the country and across the world.
 
 
 
It is to be noted that she has won National Film Awards for Best Female Playback Singer thrice. She has also received State awards from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat, and OdishaVani Jairam recently completed 50 years as a professional singer and had recorded more than 10,000 songs.
She has worked with legendary composers including MS Ilaiyaraaja, RD Burman, KV Mahadevan, OP Nayyar and Madan Mohan, among others.
