A circular was issued by Kerala police on festivities at a temple in Vellayani, Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. The circular tells the temple committee to get the displays/arrangements done in a politically neutral way and that a flag with a single colour cannot be allowed. It was issued in connection with the Kaliyoot festival at Vellayani Devi Temple. The festival has been going on for more than 850 years. It had also advised raising of multicoloured flags as the display of a single-coloured flag would “instigate conflicts".

In Jharkhand’s Palamu district on Wednesday, Hindu devotees were installing decorative Toran Dwar for Mahashivaratri celebrations. Opposing this move, Muslim community started an argument which later turned into a clash and stone-pelting. Notably, the incident took place in the Panki Bazar area close to a mosque.

 

A heavy police force has been deployed in the area due to the heightened tension. In addition, Section 144 has been imposed in the area, and the internet has been shut down.

 

 

A Hindu temple has been defaced with anti-India graffiti in Canada's Mississauga on Tuesday. Banned US-based terror group Sikh for Justice has claimed responsibility for the incident. This is not the first such incident in Canada. Earlier in January, a Hindu Temple in Brampton Canada was defaced with anti-India graffiti.

 

The Consulate General of India in Toronto strongly condemned it and called for stern action against the perpetrators.
“We strongly condemn the defacing of Ram Mandir in Missisauga with anti-India graffiti. We have requested Canadian authorities to investigate the incident and take prompt action on perpetrators,” it said.
