Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the director of Animal, has hit headlines for controversial comments against women. Notably, before Animal, he also directed the Shahid Kapoor starrer 'Kabir Singh'. While the entire team is busy promoting 'Animal', an old clip of the filmmaker justifying violence against women is going viral on social media.
The short clip is the interview with Anupama Chopra, which was shared on social media, Sandeep revealed his definition of emotions in a relationship.
"If you can't slap, if you can't touch your woman wherever you want, you can't kiss, you can't use curse words then I don't see emotions there," while asked about the allegations of toxic masculinity and poor treatment of women in the film.
Critics have frequently pointed out that Sandeep has been criticised for depicting his male characters as the embodiment of masculinity. Apart from this, Sandeep, with his movie "Kabir Singh" & original movie "Arjun Reddy" has caused a series of controversies by glorifying violence against women in his films.
Besides, another clip from the same interview went viral recently. He had said that in the light of charges of ‘violence’ being levelled by a section of critics and audiences, he had promised to make an even more ‘violent film’.
