Chennai is grappling with the ferocity of Cyclone Michaung. The city has been enveloped in chaos as torrential rains and gale-force winds wreak havoc, leading to severe flooding and widespread disruption.According to municipal administration and water supply minister KN Nehru, the city (Chennai) is seeing rains worse than what it saw in 70-80 years.

 

 

Power and internet disruptions compounded the city's challenges. Operations at Chennai airport have been suspended until 11:30pm due to strong winds.  The cyclone, which intensified into a severe cyclonic storm, was expected to make landfall between Nellore and Machilipatnam on Tuesday noon.

 

 

 

Prior to its arrival, Chennai experienced significant disruptions: most of the city was submerged underwater, flights were cancelled, and train services were suspended due to safety concerns. The Chennai Airport had to shut down both arrivals and departures until late evening amid the relentless downpour.

 

A harrowing video circulating online captures the calamity's raw power, showing vehicles being swept away by the deluge as if they were mere toys.

 

The relentless downpour has submerged roads, collapsed walls, and disrupted essential services, painting a picture of a city under siege by nature's wrath.
