WATCH | Randeep Hooda redefines 'Celebrity Weddings' with his serene Meitei way

Everyone witnessed the beautiful wedding ceremony of Randeep Hooda and his partner Lin Laishram yesterday (Nov 29), as he shared the visuals and videos of the rituals. The first marriage video of the happy couple that went a hit on social media received mixed responses. The marriage took place according to authentic Meitei tradition and followed the Hindu Meitei rituals.

 

 

 

 

Majority of the Indian mass is unaware of the rituals and practices of Indian ethnic groups, particularly from North East, which is why everyone seemed pretty mesmerized with the unusual wedding pictures and videos of a 'celebrity wedding', that happened with minimal pomp and was moreover addressed as a decent & serene celebrity wedding.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Meitei community is a Hindu community, an ethnic group from the North East that takes pride in its Hindu identity. This particular attitude of the Meiteis, that has sustained through several generations, has given tough time to Christian Missionaries, that have been actively converting the tribal demographic of the North East.

In the present context, with the ongoing Meitei - Kuki struggle and the Meiteis being termed as 'terrorists' by people without knowing the on ground reality, Randeep Hooda, who hails from Haryana, deciding to marry the love of his life as per the Meitei marriage rituals is truly subversive as well as noteworthy. Being a social influencer, Hooda's action has far reaching implications in the Indian society, especially with so much context. His decision also resembles his sense of responsibility.
