Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of Naval Staff, has stated that the Indian Navy is poised for major development in the future years, with plans to raise its fleet size to roughly 165-170 ships and submarines by 2035, up from the present 130 ships and 220 aircraft.
Admiral Kumar stressed the importance of the Navy in safeguarding, conserving, promoting, and advancing national interests. He stated that the Navy is well-funded and has the resources to meet its expansion objectives. The Navy is presently developing 67 ships and submarines of various types. The Navy's fleet size is set to rise dramatically in the future years, with the addition of additional 45 ships and submarines slated for construction.
Admiral Kumar also discussed how the Navy intends to use artificial intelligence (AI) into its operations. While total AI domination by 2045, as predicted by domain experts, appears to be a long way off, he stated that the immediate priority will be manned-unmanned teaming.
"We've set up an unmanned squadron in Karwar and there is a lot of work happening with unmanned air assets, unmanned surface water vessels, unmanned underwater vessels," Admiral Kumar told a news conference.
The Indian Navy's expansion plans reflect the country's rising prominence in the Indo-Pacific region. The Navy is becoming increasingly essential in preserving India's maritime interests and guaranteeing regional security.
