After 12 years of relentless effort, World's largest modern-day Hindu temple opens in New Jersey

The construction of this Hindu temple began in 2015 with the help of 12,500 volunteers across North America. The temple is known as BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham. After 12 years of relentless effort of the volunteers, the large temple covering 183 acres of land will be open to the public from Monday. The stone Mahamandir, set to become the centerpiece of the Akshardham campus, is a marvel of craftsmanship and devotion, blending intricate artistry with spiritual significance.

Akshardham in New Jersey marks the third such cultural complex globally. The first Akshardham was created in Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat, India, in 1992, followed by Akshardham in New Delhi in 2005.
